At Benepass, our cultural values define who we are, how we work, and how we decide. Beneperson of the Quarter is a peer-nominated recognition program that highlights exceptional individuals who exhibited our values during a given quarter.

Our Beneperson of the Quarter for Q3 is Bess Renn, Customer Success Manager on the Customer Success (CS) team! Our CS team is responsible for managing our current client relationships, including implementations, communications, and ensuring the success of our customers and their benefits programs. Learn more about Bess and her work at Benepass in our interview below.

What made you want to work at Benepass?

Rachel Smedley, Benepass’s Chief of Staff! I saw a LinkedIn post of hers mentioning how much she loved working at Benepass and a real life example of the power of Benepass (using her Benepass benefit to enjoy her Sweetgreen salad). After meeting with her and Head of Strategy and Operations Dan Ross, I could see how passionate the employees were about the mission of Benepass and how much the company culture fostered a creative and friendly environment.

What aspect of your role as Customer Success Manager do you enjoy most?

I love getting to know Benepass’s customers! Seeing and hearing Benepass in action with our customers’ employees never gets old.

Walk us through a typical work day.

No two days are the same here on the Customer Success team! Each day has a mixture of implementation conversations, product feedback sessions, checking in with launched clients on their program success, and training clients’ employees on how to engage with their new Benepass benefits. The most constant activity in my workdays is finding new ways to improve our product and our internal processes. Having a creative and talented team to work with certainly helps with both of those tasks!

What is your favorite thing about about working at Benepass?

The people. Everyone is so incredibly friendly from day one. They’re also just an incredibly talented and passionate group to work with. No one is afraid to share their thoughts and think outside the box. Maybe I’m biased, but I think that Benepass has some of the best talent I’ve worked with!

What is the most important thing you have learned in your role?

A deep appreciation for People and Ops teams. Working closely with them each and every day has given me perspective on how involved and caring each HR/Ops/People team member is!

What Benepass value means most to you?

Seek joy! I strive every day to brighten my coworkers’ and my clients’ days. Coincidentally, that might just be an audacious goal on an early Monday morning!

How would you describe Benepass in three words?

Boundary-pushing. Innovative. Hard-working.

What do you like to do outside of work?

Outside of work, you can find me teaching a fitness class, going to a concert, or trying out new and exciting restaurants. I’m not one to sit still for long!
