Physical & Mental Wellness Resources During COVID-19

Updated: May 14, 2020

Although staying healthy is at the forefront of everyone's mind at the moment, it's important to remember that our health stems far beyond our medical charts— it is also defined by our physical and mental wellness. Many of our partners are offering free and/or reduced cost programs to help you focus on your wellness during this challenging time.

Here is a list of compiled free and/or reduced cost resources that you can try at home:

Fitness at Home

For those of us who are feeling a little restless during the shut down, these fitness resources are a great way to get up and moving:

  • 305 Fitness: dance cardio classes on YouTube every day at 12pm EST and 6pm EST; free and no equipment needed

  • ClassPass Go: audio classes with a mix of HIIT, yoga, strength, and more; free

  • Orangetheory: daily strength and cardio videos targeting different body parts; free

  • Peloton: fitness app with 10+ different workout types available; 90-day free trial

  • P.volve: live workouts on Instagram Live and YouTube three times a day (8pm EST, 1pm EST, and 6pm EST); free

  • SoulCycle: live workouts on SiriusXM and Instagram with their famous instructors. Classes available M-F and varies daily; free, requires sign-in

  • Workout Daily: 7-minute video workouts texted to you daily; free 7-day trial

Mental Health

For those seeking out a bit of support or solace—or those just looking to start a meditation practice—we hope that the following resources are useful:

  • 7Chairs: small online support groups led by a licensed therapist; first session free

  • Calm: meditation app offering free online meditations and calming exercises; 40% off memberships

  • In the Rooms: online meetings for recovery from alcohol and substance abuse; free

  • Headspace: a portion of their app library called "Weathering the Storm" is now free for everyone

  • Sanvello: app-based support for stress, anxiety, and depression; free premium access for new users through the COVID-19 crisis

  • Simple Habit: 5-minute daily meditation app; free Premium memberships for those who have been financially impacted

  • Tempest: online sobriety school and peer support groups for alcohol and substance use support; free virtual support groups and scholarships available for their Recovery at Home program if you have been financially impacted or are working on the front lines of COVID-19

  • Talkspace: online and text therapy; get $65 off their regular programming with coupon code APPLY65; free therapist-led Facebook support groups available and free subscriptions for front-line workers

Here's a longer list of mental health resources compiled by Julia Bernstein from Tempest, and an article from Vox specifically on finding a therapist.
